Sony’s Commercials Continue to Rock

After years of stylish but meaningless advertisements, Sony has turned its marketing around with the commercials accompanying the launch of the PlayStation 3 Slim. The latest ad continues the trend. Touting the console’s Blu-ray capabilities, this spot makes fun of old people…which is always funny. Check it out and leave your thoughts!

"With a stick!"

I saw this on the PlayStation Blog and loved it. The "Dear PlayStation" ads are amazing and Kevin Butler is a marketing genius.

This stuff is significantly better than showing clips of nameless games to a really mediocre Saliva song.

Why didn't they come up with this type of advertising campaign when the PS3 frist came out? It is far superior to thier first campaign, which was more abstract. Unfortunately, abstract advertising works with products people are intimately familar with (if at all), not a brand new product line. Marketing faux pas 101.

Much better than the crying baby and floating PS3.

I REALLY like the new commercials. But despite the fact that I recognize these as being vastly more effective, I REALLY liked the original weird as hell ones too.
