Coffee Talk #151: Where Do You Play Games?

Whether I’ve “known” you for a few weeks or few years, one thing we have in common is that we love to play games. You’re probably thinking, “Duh!”, but stay with me for a sec. One thing I don’t know about you is where you play games. Do you have your living room decked out with a crazy surround-sound system? Perhaps you prefer playing in bed while leaning on your favorite pillow. Maybe you’ve constructed an elaborate man/woman cave for gaming. Today I want to hear all about your gaming setup. So please take this poll and tell me about your rig!

Welcome to Coffee Talk! Let’s start off the day by discussing whatever is on your (nerd chic) mind. Every morning I’ll kick off a discussion and I’m counting on you to participate in it. If you’re not feelin’ my topic, feel free to start a chat with your fellow readers and see where it takes you. Whether you’re talking about videogames, Andy Pettitte rocking it at 37, WWE finally making Bryan Danielson interesting, or who should replace Simon Cowell on American Idol, Coffee Talk is the place to do it.

  1. RAY!

    im taking an informal survey on my own

    ok

    is this video…sad…or is this video…hilarious?

    im going hilarious!!

  2. @ Thundercracker

    I question the legitimacy of that video.

    However, in countries where the cancer rate is MUCH lower, they don't care as much about smoking as we do.

  3. I have a cave.

    I have a 52inch Sony XBR

    Sony surround sound system (5.1)

    PS3, 360, N64, NES, SNES, Dreamcast, DS

    27inch iMac

    13inch Macbook (unibody)

    Saints memorabilia on the walls.

    Obligatory Captain Kirk chair that spins. All geeks should have one.

    I love my cave.

  4. that vid is nuts. I heard about it yesterday on a morning radio show. Halfway believable.

  5. yeah i too heard it about it on a morning show

    i might not think it was hilarious if i were certain it was real.

    @smartguy

    im jealous of your cave, after the girlfriend graduates the crna school, i plan on doing the same deal, although im adamant that i want a giant hottub in my cave like scarface had :)

    also bills paraphanalia (sp?) and photos of big wins…Im gonna have plenty of wall space

  6. I game shirtless in the living room lol. My set up consists of a 32inch hdtv, a kick as soft but firm couch with a retractable ottoman, Turtle Beach 5.1 headphones, and some nice smoking accessories.

  7. I don't have a mancave but i should work on that. I voted for other since i play both in my living room and bedroom. I can only vote once and other made sense to me.

    @thundercracker

    What was the video about it's already been pulled off youtube.

    If i'm a little slow or have spelling errors please bear with me. I'm going on 3 hours of sleep.

  8. @ tokz and Thundercracker

    I blame Truth.com for that video being pulled.

    (bastards)

  9. @tokz

    its a most likely fake video of a child…doing something interesting

    what i dont get is that EVERYONE on the radio was reacting like it was dead real, but im with n8r, it just looks fake to me

  10. @n8r

    Yeah i hate those guys. It's like come on, we're adults. We all know what smoking does. It should be our choice to smoke or not. Don't try to remind us that it's a deadly habit we know that. The cigarette companies do not hook kids by having cartoon characters or by making them look "cool".

    @thundercracker

    Yeah this video does look fake. There's no way this kid can twirl the cigarette like that at age 2. Also the cig never seems to get low that has to be one slow burning cig.

  11. @ Thundercracker

    Those are all pretty liberal media outlets with a grudge against big tobacco.

  12. @thundercracker

    we bought a 3 bedroom house specifically so I can have a mancave and she a womancave.

  13. @n8r

    agreed. but for msnbc to report that? Damn it dude, i just want to believe that that awesome child exists somewhere

  14. @smartguy

    i mean ive got a pretty nice house too i think, but in order to do the mancave the way i want it, we would need to build an addition. Thats not in the budget right now…ill just have to stay jealous of you for a few more years

  15. @thundercracker

    I wish I had a small kitchen in mine.

    Initially I was going to insulate and air condition our shed, but I opted for the convenience of the house. If I'm gonna add to my house I'm gonna build a tiered seating room for watching sports and stuff. Always wanted my own movie theater.

  16. @smartguy

    yeah i agree, but i wouldnt want a projector…ill prolly wait till i can get a badass 65 inch 3dtv or something….like i said, this is a few years off

    im not making that "smartguy" money

  17. how does one "gouge out a man's heart"?

    under the sternum?

    that would SUUUUUUUUUCK…lol

  18. @thundercracker

    Idk but it would be interesting to watch in the ring, especially if someone yells out "Finish Him!"

  19. @thundercracker

    I work hard and make good decisions.

    I don't think I'd be opposed to a projector though. With the right setup it could be really nice. Surround sound could perhaps hide some deficiencies.

  20. @ Tokz

    Wow dude really pulled a Kano and some extra stuff on top, thats sick and not sick in a good way.

  21. @Big Blak

    Yeah he did and they say cocaine is one hell of a drug. It looks like mushroom tea can f**k you up as well.

  22. You think cocaine and mushroom tea is bad? Check this out:

    Whoever thought of this is the sickest dude I've ever heard of. And yes, this is a real thing.

    (DISCLAIMER: Do not check out the link if you have a weak stomach. Everyone else will surely be re posting this and talking about it in the future)

  23. @N8R

    I think that's where we all play our iPhone games…is there another place that I don't know of??

    @Topic

    I would love to have a cave for my games and computers, and my usb drives of course lol. But sadly all I have now is a dresser with my tv and 360 on top with a bookshelf that my games are on. Hopefully I can upgrade next year sometime after the wedding once we figure out where we are going to be living.

  24. @N8R

    I am pretty sure I could take the lid off of my septic tank and bottle it. I mean essentially I would think that is the same thing.

  25. @ N8R

    That is effing gross man….looks like I be seeing you all in three days after I come down, jk.

  26. Here is a fun fact for everyone. I do a lot of Wastewater Treatment Plant permits for the cities of North Texas. Everything we do has to be approved by TCEQ (Texas Commission on Environmental Quality). They have a rule that pertains to Wastewater ponds. Wastewater Ponds are where water from your residence or business goes and sits in a ponds that gets aerated (blows air up from the bottom) to keep it moving and then it naturally flows into a creek or stream or lake. TCEQ says that wastewater that sits for 28 days is basically okay for consumption. Ewww.

  27. @slicky

    that's gross. I would never drink water if i knew it was coming from there.

  28. @N8R

    The Ozarka Bottled Spring water I am drinking is unpurified water, from Texas, so I assume its just chock of wastewater

  29. @rpad

    I'm seeing this ad at the top right for the ultimate iphone dvd. i'm getting tempted to buy this. Will you get credit for this if i buy it???

  30. I'm currently playing my games in my bedroom. It's not my ideal place to play games, but no choice as to where right now. Personally, I prefer the living room for my games. No man cave needed.

    @N8R

    So are they getting high on human meth?
