What Are You Playing This Weekend?

I’ll be playing Green Day: Rock Band for a good chunk of the weekend. I’m reviewing the game for Machinima…but honestly, I rather not be playing anything. I want to rest my eyes. I want to rest me ears. Next week my senses are going to be blitzed by E3 2010! I’m excited for the show, as always. I can’t wait to see the new games, catch up with some of my favorite developers, and punch Cliffy B in the neck. While I need to spend some time rocking out with Green Day to help pay the bills, I rather be in a sensory-deprivation tank until the first pre-E3 party on Sunday.

How about you guys and gals? What’s on your weekend playlist?

  1. No clue what time will allow. I'd like to beat Alan Wake. I need more frost badges in WoW. Then hopefully watching the Lakers tie up the series on Sunday.

  2. limited game playing. as i type i am grilling and imbibing as Mexico gets ready to beat South Africa in the first game of the World Cup. Hopefully, i'll be able to make it to the Blackhawks rally downtown soon, then i'll head on the the Cubby Bear to see the Cubs take on the Sux. Saturday i may squeeze in a game, wedding to go to. Sunday, idk i might actually just watch some movies.

  3. I have my 10 year high school renunion to setup on Saturday pretty much all day, but Today and Sunday I have set aside for some 3D Dot Game Heroes. I am loving it too. Its the perfect "throwback" to classic gaming but it still feels very up to date. It is like the perfect blend of the NES Zelda and the SNES Zelda. I only have rented right now, but I fully intend on buying it.

  4. I will hopefully be getting some use out of some free rentals for one of my roommates since he will be gone this weekend. Hopefully that means I can rent Halo 3 ODST to do a quick play through, and then exchange that for something else that Blockbuster has that I can play through fairly quickly.

    @Smartguy

    how is Alan Wake? it seems interesting to me a little bit mostly because of the plot, but it doesn't really look like my style of game.

  5. Super Mario Galaxy or Red Dead Redemption if I have time. though I've got to finish planning a trip to Europe with the GF. then there's the yard work… haha

  6. @shockwave

    is that SMG1 or 2?

    Mexico was robbed around the 37th minute. They should be up 1-0. BS offsides call.

  7. @tokz – well I've yet to buy 2 since my Wii is so new. But I'm nearly finished with one and have heard nothing but amazing things about 2. Galaxy is impressive. I don't usually switch between games, but I can't seem to focus on Red Dead since I bought the Wii.

    Just goes to show you that as far as I've come in gaming I always find myself coming back to my roots.

  8. Hard to not like a Mario game.

    @bsukenyan

    it's fun. The story isn't as profound if you are a Stephen King fan.

  9. @Mario games

    I have not played any of the mario games on Wii yet, mostly because I don't have one (roommate and parents both do but I never play on them) but I am restarting Super Mario 64 again. I checked my cartridge and had 120 stars on all four save slots, sadly one had to be deleted. It will be back to 120 stars again soon enough though. SM64 FTW.

    @Smartguy

    I am a Stephen King fan. I was more just hoping to see how revolutionary Alan Wake actually is, but like I said it really isn't my style of game. I was just thinking I might check it out to gain a little more knowledge about it, no real reason I guess.

  10. Red Dead Redemption and Rest.

    I suppose you could acronym that as RDRR.

    I might get into some SVR 2010 if my friends are playing it though, but I need to level up some more on RDR.

  11. Gotta put in some quality time with my gf shes going to Colorado for 2weeks but when I do get online I'll be on one of the L4Ds, and FFXIII.

  12. @Big Blak

    Next week sometime for some more L4D while she is gone?? My fiance should be gone for a little while as well so I should be free at some points to play online. This weekend is all about playing games that I don't already own though.

    @all

    Anyone have a suggestion on any games that are relatively short and could be played through in a day or so?

  13. @ BSU

    Oh yea I'm down for that! Honestly you can beat the new SCC (Splinter Cell Conviction) in 6-10 hours.

  14. @Big Blak

    Sounds good, I might have to check that one out. The controls on the demo were definitely something to get used to for me, and I still never did. But I did like the first two Splinter Cell games and the concept behind the story.

  15. Red Dead Redemption, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, and Alpha Protocol if it comes in the mail from Gamefly.

  16. @ Thunder

    Is it any good Ive been considering it heavily, Ive never played that game before. We had Madden and NBA Jam growing up.

  17. @ All

    Momma Duke (lol) is looking for a new Verizon phone any suggestions? I know the Incredible and the Eris but thats about it.

  18. i dont have it yet, im waiting for it to go down…im cheap

    the old school game was the best, but im a little hesitant to pay 10 bucks for a football game without NFL players

  19. @big blak

    she could always go droid…most people i know who have it seem to like it

  20. @BB

    Get the Moto Droid. The Incredible is neat but my experiences with the two showed me that the Moto had better call clarity. Just a bit too awkward for my hands. Don't get the Eris. Seriously, Moto with stock Android is the way to go. You can overclock it to 1ghz if that is your thing but the onboard gpu make the stock 550mhz more than acceptable, especially when Froyo gets pushed to it.

  21. @ SG

    Wow thats crazy! But I know my mom would care about that she wants a "sexy" phone lol.

  22. @ Thunder

    The Moto droid? Wait thats the same one Smart Guy recommenced. I'll let her know.

    @ All

    Thanks

  23. @slicky

    it was i got more pics but its pouring out right now. Ill post them when i get into the bar.

  24. @Big Blak Try out the Incredible first. On paper it's better than the Droid. My friend in Boston uses it and loves it. So if you get solid Verizon coverage, it'll do you good.

  25. @ Ray

    My mom lives in the country about 2hrs west of Boston (seriously, some people still use horses as transportation there) with her gf and the service there is (Simon Cowell voice) absolutely horrendous.

  26. @ Tokz

    The dude with the money stuffed in his mouth is effing priceless! Sorry I was being nosy lol.

  27. @Big Blak

    Yeah that was a hilarious moment. I wanted to take a video of it but my phone at the time was an LgVu and the video was lame, also flickr didn't do video uploads at the time. Did you see my Boston pics??

  28. @ Tokz

    Wow when was that!? Everything is new now on the T. Did you have a horrible time with our public transportation? I do every day lol.

  29. @Big Blak

    This was last year. I didn't have a bad time. I just chalked it up to construction. I have more pics but there in my digital camera and i'm a little lazy to upload if it's not on my iphone.

  30. @ Tokz;

    Congratulations. That block party looks like fun. It kind of reminds me of the movie "Ferris Buler's Day Off."

    @ topic;

    Probably Halo 3 multiplayer until I get bored of that. I will likely start a new game this weekend. I'm leaning towards Episodes from Liberty City or Fallout 3… or maybe Bayonetta like Smartguy suggested. Oh, and BTW, can you believe that Bungie gave me the EXP Banhammer for two weeks?! I was having a party and playing with some people locally and online. The local people were signed in as guests and general camaraderie and mayhem ensued. The people who were playing locally decided to go out on a beer run and the other guys on XBL and I decided to make examples out of their characters by killing them over and over and over again. We would come up with the most creative ways to kill their guys. Combined with excessive drinking, hilarity ensued. I sobered up quick when I got a message from Bungie saying that I had an EXP ban for two weeks. WTF?! What does Bungie have against me playing however the hell I want? I paid over $270 for all of my Halo games and now Bungie wants to be my mom? Screw you, Bungie. I thought we were friends.

    -M

  31. @iceman

    thanks but that wasnt a block party it was a parade and rally that covered a few miles. The taste of chicago starts soon and that's like a block party only it lasts two weeks.

    @bsu

    i know ahole cubs almost ruined my day but all someone needed to do was yell out Go Hawks and i was better.

  32. @Tokz

    Yeah I am hoping to go to the Taste of Chicago this year with my fiance. As long as I can afford it hopefully we can go for a day or two.

    I didn't think the White Sox were going to win, figured it would be a normal Cubs win. But with all those people celebrating the Blackhawks win I'm sure the pain went away quickly enough.

  33. @Iceman

    If you were online doing that, then you were reported for boosting. The Bungie banhammer strikes swift and more often than Microsoft's.

  34. @Anyone who is possibly on right now

    I am trying to help my friend set up his PS3 to go online (he is just now doing that) and he has a user ID already set up on his PS3, but I don't know if there is a way to just upgrade that to an online ID. If anyone knows how that should work I would really appreciate a couple of tips on how it all works on PS3.

  35. @bsu

    as far as i know, if he has an id, he can just log onto it, and then play online

  36. @bsu

    I am pretty sure it is just as Thundercracker said. At least that is what I think remember doing all those years ago, but it been a while.

  37. @bsu – you bascially just need to create a password and he's online.

    @this topic – I got Resonance of Fate to play, but I didn't have much time during the weekend to play. I spent most of it crisping in a pool with some friends who had a wedding anniversary and my best friend who came up for a job interview.
