Coffee Talk #200: Gamers Should Hate Freddie Prinze, Jr.

It’s the 200th edition of Coffee Talk! I want to thank all of you for helping me make it this far!!! If you’d like to thank me then please do me a favor and start hating Freddie Prinze, Jr. You see, I saw him over Summer Slam weekend at the lobby of the Sheraton. Freddie used to be a writer for WWE and was visiting the wrestlers. Anyway, start hating him. Like now.

Welcome to Coffee Talk! Let’s start off the day by discussing whatever is on your (nerd chic) mind. Every morning I’ll kick off a discussion and I’m counting on you to participate in it. If you’re not feelin’ my topic, feel free to start a chat with your fellow readers and see where it takes you. Whether you’re talking about videogames, the awesomeness of Bryan Danielson, the soap opera that is the NY Mets, or stupid bombs on Wilshire, Coffee Talk is the place to do it.

Freddie is young, handsome, and rich. He’s also a total nerd. He loves videogames. He loves wrestling. I hate that he turned his markdom into a job with WWE (especially when my WWE writing skills are far superior to his). I hate that he’s young, handsome, and rich. I hate that he’s married to an incredibly hot woman. And by hate, I mean I’m completely jealous of this man to the point where I almost have a crush on him.

To help me deal with this issue, please let me know if there are any celebrity gamers that you hate. If you like, I can hate them too!

  1. I don't know if Morgan Webb is a celebrity or even a gamer, but I could never stand listen to her critique a title.

    I always wanted to meet Dave Chappelle in WoW though.

  2. Happy 200th Coffee Talk everyone!

    I already couldn't stand this guy, so it's no stretch for me.

    @ off topic

    I saw The Expendables yesterday… absolutely great movie. I highly recommend it. Stone Cold vs Rocky and Randy Couture FTW! I think Terry Crews stole the show however. I hope this helps his career by miles.

    I also pre-ordered the Fallout: New Vegas collector's edition yesterday (paid in full). It came with a deck of cards, and I collect decks of cards… so I couldn't resist. It also comes with poker chips. I also put the change from a C-note on Dead Rising 2.

    Anyway… EXPENDABLES!

  3. @smartguy

    Dave Chappelle has a WoW account??? no wonder he went crazy!

    I think i hate Stuart Scott from ESPN and Chris Berman from ESPN too. If you even consider them celebrities. I hate when they try to hard to make their broadcasts cool by adding a "dawg" or "homie" or a sound effect here or making their voices go rough when they say the "oakland Raiders". I'll hate Freddie Prinze Jr. just cuz i think he's riding SMG's coattails and his dad's.

    @Bryan Danielson

    I missed his match to go see The Expendables. I was tricked! I thought my non-comic book reading friends were actually going to see this. It was pretty good. It was like the A-team from the 80s but on steroids. It was worth my 5 bucks.

    @NY Mets drama

    so when does their new daytime show drop that follows K-Rod start on the MLB network??? they can call it the young and the job-less.

    @bombs over Wilshire

    Sorry to hear that you missed a day's pay for it? i can't believe they wouldn't pay you? it's not like you planted the bomb.

  4. @tokz totally agree with you on Chris Berman, I have no clue why he is in the hall of fame.

  5. @Tokz

    Yes he did/does. I am pretty sure he used a troll since they have that Jamaican accent lol.

    Not a celebrity, but I hate that woman nintendo used this year and last year at E3. She tries to be a gamer but comes off as a seeming liar about how much she likes games. Don't care for her or Reggie. They both strike me that way.

    I honestly think Bill Gates is the only big wig who would play a game out of the big 3 in competition. Kaz seems to be more of a karaoke and martini bar guy.

  6. @Ray

    Congratulations on making it to 200!!

    @Topic

    Pretty sure this person plays Modern Warfare and Halo online, but I do not like Dane Cook at all. I prefer my comedy to be intelligent instead of someone just yelling and cursing on stage for an hour or so. Yes I have heard plenty of his material and I still feel the same, and if he isn't a gamer, well, I still hate him.

    @N8R

    I also collect decks of cards. I am gonna have to look into finding one of those decks and chips (or pre-order the game to get the stuff and sell the game later, haha). My most unique deck comes from a funeral home but I am always looking for new decks.

  7. @redtailman

    i know! It's good to know that if you make noises or change your voice to announce teams that you too can get a star on the Hollywood walk of fame and into the football hall of fame.

    @smartguy

    really? i never heard trolls talk in that game??? then again i stopped playing it after a couple of months. I just couldn't get into it, like my friends have.

  8. @Ray

    Really? I thought it was her again…she just dyed her hair or something. Good call on Nintendo if they dismissed her lol.

  9. @SG

    Really? Morgan. I love Morgan and everything about her. I have always been a fan of hers.

    OLIVIA MUNN. I cannot stand her!!! I would like to assume her stupidity is an act, but either way it is very off putting. I absolutely cannot stand to watch her in anything EVER. I am glad she is never on AOTS anymore. I never heard why but she isn't on there anymore and it makes me happy.

  10. @slicky

    She always tried to hard to put down aspects of the titles she was responsible for reviewing. I know they don't play half of what they review, but hers just seemed so read off of a teleprompter that it was annoying. Sessler is the best they have. Seriously if the viewers didn't want to see her naked, she'd not have that job. My opinion though. I agree with you on Munn. She'd be a great bedroom decoration, but otherwise stfu lol.

  11. @rpad/smartguy

    i think nintendo didn't have her at the conference. She was actually on nintendo's website as a host while E3 2010 was going on. I know this because g4tv's stream was down a lot during Nintendo's conference. also, she wasn't fired afterwards because she was quoted in this article when nintendo hit 30 million units.

  12. @smartguy I would say that Morgan is a celebrity and a gamer. She's actually very nice.

    @tokz_21 Well, I'm a freelancer and have to log hours and it's not like I worked any yesterday. That's just how business works for freelancers.

    @bsukenyan Thanks for the congrats!

    @SlickyFats I have a similar opinion on she who shall not be named.

  13. Cammie Dunaway is still with Nintendo. She's usually the one that comments about how wonderful their sales numbers are on the press releases every month.

  14. @ Topic

    I love all the people you guys hate except for Dane Cook, he truly sucks big floppy donkey *icks.

    I would have to go with the ultimate douche of all douches Shia Labeouf or however you spell his shitty name. I think he just sucks as an actor and I could care less about that dude, even if he is a nice guy in real life which I doubt. He looks like the type of person to claim that your cheating if you beat him online. I'm just saying, I could be far from the truth but he sucks in my mind.

  15. @Slicky

    It's not that Dane Cook couldn't be funny, but look at someone like George Carlin. He could curse plenty on stage, especially since he is probably most well known for the seven words you can't say on tv, but he still did it in an intelligent manner. For me, Dane Cook simply does a lot of yelling and swearing on stage to get the laughs of a younger audience who finds it all amusing. The same goes for most movies with Jonah Hill, Seth Rogan, Zach Galifianakis, Steve Carell, Will Ferrel- in my opinion. It's all done in the same style.

  16. @redtailman

    I didnt see that on sony's blog from gamescon. Thanks. Did you see the multi player trailer for killzone 3?

  17. dane cook has some hilarious material…that being said, i hate him now

    who else do i HATE??? Justin bieber, although i dont really know who he is or what he does. I hate Greys anatomy. I hate Sarah Palin.

    The way ray is with mr prinze, i kind of am with Jared leto. I hate him only because im really jealous of him. Thats a handsome dude who is also a rock star and who also happens to be a movie star. It doesnt help that he chooses his roles extremely well and that he played paul allen in american psycho, one of my favorite movies

  18. i like louis black and louis ck, they are both angry and bitter.

    lots of good young comics though..kevin hart is great, i like dmitri martin also

  19. Happy Bicentennial!!

    @topic

    No one said Soulja Boy??? For Realz?? Not only is his music terrible, but is absolutely garbage in like every game. You think he would have enough time to step his game up. I mean his new song sounds like the cripple kid from Malcom in the Middle.

    @Stand up

    Mitch Hedberg R.I.P., and Kevin Hart is hilarious.

  20. @Arguello

    Yeah but I can't hate him too much for what he is doing. I would take all the money they give him to produce garbage like that, no doubt about it. There is a lot $400 million could buy just for doing one song (crank dat).

  21. @Stand Up

    I have every Mitch Hedberg CD/DVD and also every Dane Cook one.

    @Dane Cook

    I didn't think he cursed all that much. I cannot stand comics that curse. I like Sinbad because he is funny without cursing. I tried to watch The Original Kings of Comedy and just couldn't stand all of the profanity. Its not that I am offended by it or anything because I cuss like crazy, but they seem to rely on it to make them funny. I have never thought that Dane Cook did that. Although his last DVD was just that, an unfunny piece of crap filled with lewdness.But prior to that his stuff was hilarious.

  22. Sorry for my absence guys. I've got a new job with longer hours and I'm not in front of a computer either. Anyway, congrats on the 200th Coffee Talk, Ray.

  23. @topic;

    I have no problems hating on Freddie Prinze Jr. for you, Mr. Padilla, if you promise, in turn, to hate Lou Holtz for me. I'm not jealous of him or anything, but I am waiting impatiently for him to die. If he doesn't go soon, I may have to punch him in the face, the bastard. And no, I don't care if I have to spend a night or two in jail if I do. It'll totally be worth it.

    @comedians;

    My wife and I watch comedy central on a regular basis and I really like most comedians. All of them have their pros and cons. Luis Black, Dave Chapelle, and Mitch Hedberg (rest in peace), in my opinion, are in the top five best of the modern era. I don't mind cursing in comedy shows if it warrants it, but I dislike being vulgar just for the sake of being vulgar (i.e., Andrew "Dice" Clay). That said, the only comedian I CAN NOT stand has to be Kat Williams. He's a foul-mouthed, hyper-active, Ompa-Loompa with Lady Gaga's sense of fashion that causes epileptic seizures if you look at it for too long. Dane Cook at least tells interesting stories, if not exaggerated, but Mr. Williams is just asinine with his whole "pimp theme". I'm sure that most real pimps are a lot funnier than him.

    P.S.- Happy 200th Post!!! (Less than two months to go for the "Year One" anniversary).

  24. @any wrestling fans;

    Did anybody see the roast of David Hasselhoff? The jokes thrown at Hulk Hogan were pretty brutal (especially Lisa Lampanelli's). For those of you who missed it, Terry was called gay multiple times, his daughter was referenced as a man, and Lisa asked him if he could hear the sound of a 19-year-old's testicles hitting his ex-wife's chin.

    Harsh.

    -M

  25. @Iceman

    I recorded that but just haven't gotten around to watching it yet. Sounds like fun though.

  26. @iceman

    i thought it was the roast of the Hoff not Hogan. these roasts are getting out of control btw.

  27. @Tokz;

    Yes, it was of David Hasselhoff, but that does not deter the comedians from ripping into anyone who is on stage (dais) and even some audience members. And, yes, it has gotten a bit out of hand, but as long as there is money involved…

    -M

  28. i'll have to youtube it. somehow i have a feeling hogan's story will not have a happy ending. *knocks on wood*

  29. I don't mind my comedians being vulgar. Andrew Dice Clay is just too damn vulgar, but I still find him funny.

    Lewis Black has to be my favorite of all time though. He eclipsed George Carlin in my mind and that took a lot.

    @Iceman

    Lou Holtz? really? If there was any tv personality that needed a fat lip or a good old fashioned ass whippin it would have to be Ryan Seacrest.

  30. @Smartguy

    I would agree with you on Ryan Seacrest, but he isn't man enough to take the ass whippin in question.

  31. @Smartguy;

    I've never really seen any TV show with Ryan Seacrest, so I wouldn't know. I don't watch American Idol or any other show he's on. I hear that people rag on him a lot, but I'm pretty neutral with people I'm not familiar with.

    The deep-rooted hatred of Lou Holtz is a Miami thing. But seriously, if I ever see the guy on the streets or in public, I will kick him in the chest and beat him with his own walker until somebody pulls me off him. I will happily go to jail, pay the fine, and then see myself all over ESPN for the next five days… unless Brett Favre decides to announce his retirement within that time… again. So, yeah, if you hear that some crazy lunatic started pummeling Lou Holtz senselessly in public, you'll know who it is. Consequently, you may not hear from me on this site for a while.

    -M

  32. @N8

    That or you just found a loser avatar for Iceman to sport if that happens to be the case. haha. I think that might pain him a little too much though to have to sport Lou Holtz as his avatar.

  33. @Ray

    That guy is a fake baked douche. He needs an ass kicking like those jersey shore kids.

  34. @smartguy He's actually fine. I used to see him everyone now and then when I was at G4 (E! is in the same office). I'm much rather hang out with him than someone whose name rhymes with Bolivia Bun.

  35. @ Thundercracker

    I wonder about that dude alot as well.

    He stopped posting on the Feed even back when we were there. A few days before his disappearance, he was talking bout how he had a court date coming up.

    Which led me to eventually believe that he might have gotten locked up.

  36. @N8

    Where did you pre-order Fallout: New Vegas at to get the cards and poker chips? Anyplace special or just wherever?

  37. @ray

    weve established that bolivia bunn isnt fun to be around

    how bout tevin terreira?

  38. @ BSU

    The collector's edition ($80) is what has the cards, chips, and other stuff. I pre-ordered mine at Gamestop. The pre-order bonus is what changes depending on where you buy it, but all of that is in-game stuff for New Vegas.

    I wish I could get 2 decks of cards since I usually buy them in at least pairs (for magic tricks). Most of the cards I collect are just the various Bicycle cards because Bicycle is awesome. But I have some other sets as well.

    Additional: If you pre-order Dead Rising 2 from the Capcom store, they'll put your face on the cover of the game.

  39. @n8

    i've never played dead rising but it would be pretty sweet to see my face on the cover. Is that for the regular d.r. 2? or do you have to get a special edition or ultimate edition or collector's edition?

  40. @Tokz

    Thanks for the link.

    @N8

    I don't know why, but Fallout: New Vegas was looking good before and I kind of wanted to try it out. I never played any of the other Fallout games but this one seemed pretty cool. Now the collectors edition might be the big push for me to try this game out.

    I collect a lot of the Bicycle decks as well, but I try to pick up new decks of cards wherever I travel to. The Tragic Royalty deck from Bicycle is pretty cool, I have some political cards I got in DC with a bunch of caricatures on them, casino cards, sports teams, advertisement cards, remake of 1800's playing cards, the Disney Villains deck is pretty cool, a Day of the Dead deck, a double deck that was with the movie Casino Royale, and I have a remake of the Joker card from Batman Begins that was in the evidence bag.
