Welcome to Coffee Talk! Let’s start off the day by discussing whatever is on your (nerd chic) mind. Every morning I’ll kick off a discussion and I’m counting on you to participate in it. If you’re not feelin’ my topic, feel free to start a chat with your fellow readers and see where it takes you. Whether you’re talking about videogames, Derek Jeter’s incredible day, CM Punk’s awesomeness, or KiMO Bean extra fancy Kona, Coffee Talk is the place to do it.

Hey you guys! I’ve missed you a bunch while I was in Hawaii. It was a fantastic vacation — one of the best and most relaxing that I’ve had in years. I just had an incredible time attending my brother’s wedding, catching up with family, and seeing all sorts of stuff on Oahu.

Obviously seeing my brother get married and spending time with my parents were the best parts of my trip, but my favorite “quiet” moment was hanging out at Lanikai Beach in Kailua. It was amazing — clear water, less than 20 people at the beach, smooth sand, and a brilliant view.

Before I get to today’s question, I wanted to give major thanks to RPadholic smartguy for sending me Twitter messages when the site was down and when it went back up. It was annoying to deal with during my vacation, but I super appreciated the heads up. I was able to clear things up relatively quickly thanks to smartguy’s alerts (though I still want to punch my web host in the face).

As I settle back into mainland USA, I want to hear about some of your favorite vacations. My head is going to be floating to Lanikai several times today, but perhaps hearing about some of your awesome vacations will bring me back to Los Angeles.

  1. The pictures look awesome! I've had some pretty great vacations before, but I guess that all depends on what your definition of a great vacation is. I've been all over the Great Lakes and the Upper Peninsula in Michigan. Been to the Appalachian mountains a couple times and Kentucky and Tennessee, it's really pretty country down there, but they were a little too racist for me. One year we made a trip around Lake Erie one year up in to Canada and Niagra falls and back around through New York and Pennsylvania.

One of the best ones was one of the last I've been on, which was a three week vacation out West to Yellowstone National Park, St. Louis, Mount Rushmore, Denver, CO, the Royale Gorge, etc. Tent camping the whole time, which was especially fun inside Yellowstone when it got to be night time because then you could hear the Bison walking through camp and we were also really close to a few mountains to climb. Also, it was fun stopping on the side of the road and having a snowball fight in the middle of July. The wind was really only bad a couple nights which isn't bad out of three weeks, and we got to see a lot of stuff in a fairly short period of time. Now all this talk makes me want to go on a vacation again!

    1. Dude, thanks so much for the gift! That was awesome. I'll take pictures of him in it when he gets big enough.

  2. You are welcome.

Best vacation? We did Disney World with just the two of us. Woman and I. That was pretty fun for two adults. We didn't have to buy overpriced mouse ear crap! One regret is not buying the Millenium Falcon at the Lego store. Idiot.

      1. Ha! We spent all of an hour in Magic Kingdom lol. It was pretty lame.

Third regret was sitting on the far right of the Indiana Jones stunt show. The massive explosions on that side didn't mingle well with the 100 degree heat! At least I got a Belloch hat that I still wear to fish and cut grass.

  3. Well this guy is about to go on the annual camping trip to the White Mountains of NH with some family and friends. I will be on the double letter diet, food, beer, and weed lol. I love being in the mountains and I will be adding some pics to G+ this weekend.

  4. Dude these pics are insane! I like (what I'm calling until corrected) is the tree of souls. I just want to sit under it lol.

  5. Welcome back rpad! Did u happen to find "Waaaaaaallllllltttt" while u were ou there? I have yet to have what i can call an awesome vacation but my first business trip to Boston was pretty cool. Great pix of Oahu, it makes me want to go and get Lost in Hawaii someday.

  7. Welcome back!

Best vacation I've ever had was on my honeymoon to Hawai'i. We went on a seven-day cruise to most of the islands, but the cruise itself was "meh," but Hawai'i was just all sorts of levels of awesome. I'm seriously considering living there as my family's "Plan B".

    1. My brother is already out there and my parents are moving there. Everyone is suggesting that I move there too. I keep replying that it's easier for me to make money in California. I just keep waiting for someone to counter with, "But you aren't making any money." Ha!

      1. But you aren't making any money.

Amazon cut your state off since your political leaders have a money addiction. Maybe if you move to Hawai'i, you can get the money flowing from Amazon again. Also, you'll be closer to Japan (a gaming Mecca) and the Philiipines.
