Kevin Butler Kicks Off “Long Live Play” Ad Campaign

Here’s another excellent Sony PlayStation commercial featuring Kevin Butler. This time around he’s kicking off Sony’s “Long Live Play” ad campaign. The spot has Butler working at a company called Economy Flooring when he’s called back to the Sony Defense Force by Sony Computer Entertainment America CEO Jack Tretton. As expected, it’s a cute and witty commercial. I love that it celebrates gaming as something fun and cool. My favorite moment was when Butler looked at his framed 8 x 10 of Tretton and said, “You are the boss of me.” Ha!

Check out the spot and let me know what you think (please)!

  1. Just wondering if the Jack Tretton thing is as funny to "real" people as it is to me. It seems like something that's hilarious to people that are in the business and mildly amusing, at best, to those that aren't. The thought of someone having a framed 8 x 10 of Jack cracks me up.

  2. My favorite part of that video was at 1:24 and 1:25-1:26.

Are you paying attention, Big Blak?! That’s called premonition.

  3. The guy's funny. That's the bottom line. Maybe its his jokes; maybe its his serious face while he delivers the jokes. Who knows. Whether or not you like his humor, you gotta admit; that no-look-behind-the-back-flaming-crossbow-shot was pretty great.

  4. I can't figure out who these ads are for. In fact it kinda brings into question how necessary established brands in the fanboy fueled market need tv ads. I'd have to go to youtube and search for a 360 ad. I can only recall one Nintendo ad for the Wii.
